I founded Sunburst Strategies in 2024 after 20 years of experience providing strategy, evaluation, and organizational development consulting for several national firms. My 10 years of direct experience working in the public and nonprofit sectors, prior to my transition into consulting in 2004, provides the inspiration for my work. I have been an Executive Director, Development Director, Program Director, and board member, which means I understand the day to day challenges faced by my clients and appreciate the effort and energy it takes to engage in strategic planning or organizational strengthening work.

My "why" is equity and justice. Since we live in a system that all too often puts profit ahead of people, and therefore produces inequity as a byproduct, the social sector is the greatest asset we have to improve the lives and position of those who experience the most inequitable outcomes — who in America are most often people of color (especially Black and Indigenous Americans).

I was called to this vocation to use the science and practice of organizational development to strengthen the individual and collective capacity of social sector organizations to improve the lives of the people they exist to serve. Of all the various capacities that social sector organizations need to be effective in delivering on their missions, I believe that learning and planning are the ones that make the most difference in addressing inequity and injustice in our communities.

I have knowledge and expertise in all the realms of organizational functioning (funding models, governance, strategic relationships, etc.), so I am able to see and work with the "whole" — in case an organization does not recognize a specific need or opportunity for growth — and take the project in a different direction if that's what an organization needs. I build super strong relationships with clients, and center your power and capacity, so that what is achieved in partnership with you can be continued beyond our engagement.
